A bit more about crank length. The optimal crank length depends on your inseam
length/size. Small people will be better off with shorter that 170mm cranks just
as I am better off with longer then 170mm cranks. I don't think that there's an
exact formula for this. My cranklength is 18.5% of my inseam. If small people
get a frame in the right size and go for 26" wheels instead of 28" wheels, the
bottom bracket height will also be at least 1" lower than with a regular bike.
So it shouldn't give a problem with putting your feet on the ground. I think it
is worth to go through the trouble on getting the right crank length.

I bought a TA Alize triple set with 185mm cranks. They're expensive and a pain
to get but look quite nice. I ordered mine from http://www.sjscycles.com in the
UK. Other suppliers are http://www.bikespecialties.com/BSwebSite/Parts.html
(CDN) and
http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/Zephyr.htm (US). TA's cranklength goes from
155mm to 185mm.
