Concerning crank lengths - I've got all kinds of different lengths at home -
everything from one in the low 150's (off of a kid's bike and put on my coaster
brake bike after I changed the old 26" wheels for smaller MTB 26" wheels and found
that I couldn't pedal around the corners anymore (I never leave myself enough
commuting time to coast on the coaster brake bike!)) to 170's.

Certainly the ride is very different when you vary the cranklength this much -
Jumping on the coaster brake bike after grinding out a TT with 170mm cranks is a
bit of a shock, actually - but it never takes me more than a minute to adjust - and
it is probably even helpful to use the legs differently frequently.

By the way, I'm a 32" (81.28 cm) inseem - so the "suggested" 20-22% range would
span 163-179(!) size cranks. Thats quite a large range! - but I'm not going to
throw out my cb bike (even though the crank set is now stripped and has to be
rethreaded...).

Celia (who rarely meets a bike she doesn't enjoy)
