Thank you to those of you who responded to my "hiking" message. We did, indeed, encounter some boggy bits, in fact most of the trail was one big wet, muddy mess. But 13 of us left the parking lot in the rain, with suitable footwear and clothing and the odd ski pole as stabilizers, and had a wonderful hike, even taking time in the rain and high winds to enjoy the views from the lookout rocks. I find there is always a way of getting around the boggy bits, which adds to the challenge, and there was really only one place where we were forced to walk across a big boggy bit using a long fallen tree trunk. We are always looking for new challenges and new faces so consider offering your choice of routes and come put and join us some Sunday.

Waterproofed hiking boots will do just fine. While it is muddy and wet in sections, especially in the lower part of the trail, it is easy to circumvent the really wet areas. From beginning to end, this is a fine hiking trail - one of the best in the Gats. Keep an eye out for some wonderful mossy areas along side the trail - they are little beauty spots whether bathed in sunlight or washed by rain.
