In fact in high-use areas such as Gatineau Park the preferred approach is to 
grin and bear it (suitably attired) through the boggy bits. Otherwise the 
increased traffic simply enlarges the size of the boggy bit in an 
ever-increasing vicious circle, and what started off as a narrow trail with 
a puddle can soon become a muddy road, with attendant erosion problems.
