As somebody who moved to Ottawa not that long ago and doesn't know the city that well, one of the best things about a single starting point is that there is only one place you have to locate and figure out how to get there. For me, firugin out where to go is always one of the most stressful parts of going on one of the rides (partly because I have a poor sense of direction and easily get lost). There are still some OBC ride/race locations that I don't really know how to get to. Granted, once you figure it out, you can return again and again... but the simplicity is worth a lot. In my case, it isn't so much where the starting point is, but that it is static and consistent.
