Mel, I have been watching the exchange between you and JW et al with half an eye. The reason I haven't responded is not because I am a "quiet man doing nothing", but because I have taken the opinion that this is just another fairly typical OBSNW exchange of views between people who care passionately about their particular viewpoint. And I do think some of the responses have been provocative and inflammatory - responses that are guaranteed to get people's blood up. It's the nature of email exchanges.
I responded fairly recently to a mail from "A Struit" - who expressed a view that outraged me. I got a private mail from another ObsNW subscriber, saying "Don't Feed The Trolls". Check it out on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) I think maybe we could all follow the advice in this wiki article, and perhaps we can get this forum back to the purpose for which I believe it was intended, which is simply as a communication medium to highlight the crime in Obs and what we need to do to prevent it. I don't believe the people who are members of ONW are vermin, cowboys and fascists. I'm pretty sure that you'll find the full spectrum of political viewpoints amongst the members. But we're in this for one reason and one reason only - to reduce crime in a suburb we all love. I do hope you come to the ONW meeting tonight. 7pm at the Community Centre.
