I was reading the Wikipedia page on CPTED:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_prevention_through_environmental_design

There are a lot of useful guidelines, but in particular "Use the
shortest, least sight-limiting fence appropriate for the situation."
is something where Obs headed the opposite way.

Obs has debated it much in the past, but from the CPTED page, using
high concrete walls increases crime in the street as a whole because
criminals feel like they can break into houses in a high-walled area
with less risk of detection and apprehension.
