Hi Jane
I live in Lower Trill Road, last year festival really upset me, firstly all
the road are closed. ok, so that mean I cannot get to the Spar, then I get
home, as you know, we live in houses without garages. I cant park in front of
my house, finally I get parking and somebody take something sharp and scrapes
my car from 1 side to the other, that not all, they then bump the side back
of my car," big dent". as people are parking illegally, let not mention all
the litter and bottles left in the street. I have been living in OBS FOR 4
years now and I have to say in all honestly, I really dont enjoy the Obs
Festival.
Something will have to be done about the parking this year. I pay rent and I
can park my car in front of my house. please.
So I would love to hear what they have to say...."the organizers of the obs
fest"
thanks
Natasha

  Subject: [obsnw] Obs Fest graffiti

  Hi,

Any idea when the mural that was painted on the wall at Hartleyvale Stadium
to promote the Obs Fest is going to be painted over? Or is it just going to
become a permanent fixture? I think it was a lousy idea to put it up in the
first place considering all the problems we already have with graffiti in our
suburb and would like to see it gone.

Over the festive season I read two things in the papers which suggested it's
a foregone conclusion that Obs Fest will be taking place again in 2009. Is this
really the case? What about the feelings of the residents? The organiser of the
event said there are plans to move the live music component down to
Hartleyvale. As a resident who lives in the area I'd be very opposed to this,
as I'm sure would most of my neighbours. Still not sure who exactly it is that
benefits from this annual event. Nevertheless it seems as though the organiser
has BIG plans for the next few years. In the interview he said he'd like to see
the Obs Fest growing till it's on a par with London's Notting Hill Gate
carnival. Is our suburb really equipped to handle this - and is it really what
residents want based on the grime and crime that the 2008 fest brought to our
suburb?
