my personal opinion is that there are enough liquor outlets and booze in obz as
it is and the applicants have not once shown any interest whatsoever in
addressing or preventing the obvious repercussions which the over indulgence of
liquor causes in our neighbourhood. it's all about profits until proven
otherwise

  hello helen and cedric,
a suburb is an area that has residential and commercial components but too
often commercial interests are deemed more important than those of the
residents. the implication seems to be that a single business making money is
more important than the quality of life of the large number of people who live
in the surrounding area and who go to work the next day to make a contribution
to the businesses who employ them. this is surely a false viewpoint. hope the
authorities will appreciate the needs of residents and people who do business
in the areas where liquor licences are approved.

cafe hot or hot cafe is opposite the kiddies' park and is open during the
day. i feel that's a sensitive environment that shouldn't allow for a liquor
licence.

the area of lower main road between trill and norfolk rds have been a problem
for many, many years. the stretch of road and parking areas are a testament to
the behaviour of patrons of adjacent drinking holes - littered with broken
glass. i cannot park there because of the danger to my car tyres. often the
glass is splattered in the road, in public space. it's never swept away or the
road cleaned. even if it were, the drunken and/or unruly behaviour that gives
rise to it is unacceptable. if yet another restaurant there were to be given a
licence it should be limited to 9 p.m. i feel this is a reasonable hour for
diners to partake of a meal with a drink. hopefully patrons would leave in a
decent enough state not to toss bottles around and create a danger to passing
and parking vehicles.
  regards,
    debra west

Attached please find a copy of notices of applications fro liquor licenses
submitted to the department of Trade & Industry in term of the Liquor Act, 1989

The notice of the applications all appeared in Government gazette No 31739
on 20090102. Subcouncils have the delegated authority to comment on
applications for liquor licenses within twenty eight [28] days from publishing
such applications.

I look forward to your attention and prompt response as you need to
scrutinise the application in terms of the zoning scheme. The opinion is held
that City Of Cape Town Planning, Health and Fire & Security have a duty to
object to any application where the correct zoning is not in place for the type
of license for which application is being made.

I need to submit relevant feedback to the relevant Magistrate and SAPS
offices and need to include your feedback. I shall appreciate it, if you could
let me have your written comment in respect of the attached notices of
application[s] before or on 27 January 2009.

    Regards
