The founder members of Cape Town's Junior Mafia were the proprietors of
Barmooda at the time.
And openly, in the article mentioned (below)an involvement in abalone.

One was gunned down outside the club in broad daylight by two men. Our
dedicated bicycle guard (Oxford road and surrounds)tried to crawl under
a car as a pump action shot gun toting thug walked down James street
away from the scene and as a potential witness was lucky to escape with
his life.
Both the people mentioned above are no more. One died of his wounds at
Groote Schuur.
People who say there isn't dangerous drug related crime in Obs are ill
informed, practicing denialism or overflowing with trickster energy.

work to say that she had heard a gun shot in Robins Road (between
Bishop and Scott).

A couple of days afterwards a resident living in a house in close
proximity to the shooting had been threatened to SHUT UP (.....about
what she had seen) by a Coloured, gun-toting thug.
This shooting was rumoured to have been linked to a battle for drug
turf.
On the internet - as far back as May 2007 - it was revealed that
Observatory had been infiltrated by **global**
gangsters..........thugs linked to the Chinese Triads and the Russian
(....and surely Italian ? ) Mafia.
The article in the Wall Street Journal stated that the thugs in
question ("....one of whom managed or owned? a bar in Observatory,
Cape Town") were alleged to be exchanging Abelone for the raw
ingredients used to make crystal meths (Tik) with members of the
Triads and Russian Mafia.
I personally know of a family that wanted to lay charges against a
bouncer working in a f#kken den (in Lwr Main Rd) - then termed a
"restaurant" - who on learning this place was linked to global
gangsterism - decided against laying a charge.
The bouncer thug had roughed up their son for no apparent reason.
So fear already stalks residents in Observatory !!!
Residents who pooh-pooh this reality live in Cloud-Cuckoo-land !!
I guess the upside is that I don't live in
Mexico................................................yet.....
