HI there
When we had the first few meetings to talk about upgrading the
Barrington St park we discussed whether or not dogs and people
unaccompanied by a child should be allowed to be in the park. Although
there are some arguments for restricting access the fact of the matter
is that no one would be able to regulate it and also it would be sad
to restrict access to people without kids, or to older kids.
There have been no reported incidents of teenagers or other adults
abusing the park. However, I'm afraid, irresponsible dog-owners seem
to be the biggest problem, and apologies to those who are responsible:
- There is often dog poo in the park - which is clearly a children's
playground.
- There was an incident this year when a dog off its leash attacted a
nanny and ripped her shirt. Apparently, the owner was entirely
unsympathetic or apologetic.
