There are about 439 excluded message in the octave-forge archives. Check

These are all the SPAM that has been received on the octave-forge still 2000.
As I receive that in a day on my home e-mail addresses without filtering,
that's really not bad. The reason there is a trickle of SPAM is that the list
is open for all to post to even those that are unsubscribed. This allows bug
reports to be send to the list even by people not on it.. The appropriate
mailman options to reduce spam have been selected, bug they won't catch it all.
The ideal option to fix this would be a baysian filter on the list prior to
posting, but the list is hosted on sourceforge and so the only options we have
are accept the spam and allow unsubscribed users to post bug reports (the
current situation), or make users subscribe to the list to be able to send to
it (not really acceptable for the users) or make mailman hold messages from
unsubscribed users prior to posting them, which will increase the overhead on
the moderaters of the list. I suppose the last would be acceptable, but maybe
some more list moderaters would be an idea
