There are issues between Koen and Familiar and I'm not going to get drawn into discussing it as both sides have probably done things which have upset the other. Various people, me included have asked Koen to try drop the issue but its not happened :-(. At the end of the day Koen is a single OE developer and there are others of us who don't share his view of familiar. Lets try and keep that isolated from Familiar's future SCM plans etc. I am slightly concerned that all the 0.8.4 changes haven't been checked into the familiar branch for the obvious reasons but I'm trusting the Erik will take care of that. As for changes into .dev, this one is tricky and I face a similar problem with poky. For reference, Koen has had a similar discussion with me about changes flowing from poky back to OE so in that sense he's not just picking on Familiar. It is a valid request although for anyone who's tried it, its not easy to do at all. As I've explained, I and Openedhand are not automatically obliged to push changes back into OE. We certainly want to but pushing changes back into .dev is stressful, time consuming and you can end up on the receiving end of fairly substantial abuse from other projects or developers in you screw up or accidentally step onto someone's toes. OE's management structure is tricky as there is no one person who can say whether a given change is acceptable or not. Hopefully I'm getting better at managing this juggling act. There are some things I've just deemed too problematic to push though (they're minor in the grand scheme of things). I've also noted that as poky is in a public repository, there is nothing stopping other people syncing the changes back into OE. I've asked poky gets mentioned as the source for the changes which I think is reasonable, otherwise anyone can merge changes. Few people are prepared to do it though and I can understand why. Its just as difficult for them to merge as it is for me. So in summary, Koen != OE. I think everyone expect Koen doesn't want all out warfare with Familiar and would much prefer to find a way to work together. Above all, lets continue to try and share changes so everyone benefits. Nobody should underestimate the effect they can have on other people. I've been annoyed, upset and depressed by certain things that have come my direction in the past. I suspect Rene has suffered slightly more. People shouldn't be getting into this position in the first place :-(. Where we go from here, I don't know...
