Filesize is quite simple 128kbps is approx 128000*60 bytes per minute.
(I always forget whether the 128k is binary (128*1024) or decimal (128*1000))
A simple rule of thumb is 128kbps is approximately 1 megabyte per minute.

MP3 falls apart quickly at low bitrates - WMS in comparison is better but you
still will notice severe drops in sound quality - I'd suggest another method of music
production - for simple muzak type stuff you can layer melody on a looped rhythm
track using a an ecoding format that's good at reducing blank space but that will
require you having a package to let you mix waves in real-time without CPU load
being too severe...
