OK, you need to check 3 places (well, 3 things, 2 places)

look around the laptop - most now have an external volume control dial thing. Make sure its UP! Usual factory setting is LOW.

then, open the volume control (double click ont he little speaker cone in the tray) and turn up wave out and master out.

you should get results from one or more of these :)

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: Laptop as Car MP# Player (WAY off topic)

A weekend question.

I have bought a Sony Discman car streo adapter, which is designed to allow you to play a Discman through the cassette slot in the car stereo.

The idea was that I would use it to play MP3's from my laptop (on long trips)

It seems that I have a matching problem, because even with the volume turned right up on the software (MusicMaker Jukebox), the volume through the stereo is very faint.

I don't know anything about the audio side of computers and wonder if there are any settings that I can alter to boost the system volume from the laptop.

The laptop is a Dell Latitude CPi running NT4 SP5.

I have the adaptor plugged into the earphone socket - there is no signal from the line out.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
