culprit.

Gibe-F Worm (#32)
Gibe-F Worm
Welcome to the latest update from Network Risks, a service that alerts you to new viruses, hoaxes and other e-risks.
Also Known As: W32/[EMAIL PROTECTED], I-Worm.Swen, Worm.Automat.AHB
Date: 9/20/03
Type: Win32 Worm
Sub Type: E-mail
This mass-mailing worm replicates through e-mail via its own SMTP engine which uses e-mail addresses pulled from infected PCs. Gibe-F tricks recipients into thinking they have received a security patch from Microsoft. The attachment is a randomly-named file that can have one of the following extensions: .exe, .com, .pif, .bat, .scr, .zip
Gibe-F also attempts to infect other PCs using the KaZaA peer-to-peer program, IRC chat, and possibly usenet newsgroups.
Please be advised that Microsoft never sends files to users within security updates. Microsoft asks users to download files directly from their web site. Any e-mail that "says" it's from Microsoft and contains file update attachments should be deleted from the system at the earliest possible point.
