I'm currently using the free ZoneAlarm firewall (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/zonealarm_free_ firewall.jsp), which I've been very happy with.
I've seen quite a number of recommendations for the free Comodo Personal Firewall too, although haven't tried it myself. To be honest, I sort of find myself thinking that I'm a reasonably careful sort of chap when on the internet, so having a decent firewall, I'm in two minds as to whether or not specific AV software is really necessary. However, I am currently using AVG 8.0 Free (http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition), which doesn't seem to cause any problems, and I haven't received any viruses either. Regardless, there is no need to actually pay for these types of software (I'll qualify that: for personal use). There are a number of decent free offerings out there (for personal use). If it's spyware checking software you're looking for, use either/both AdAware (http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) or SpyBot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html), which incidentally I believe is written in Delphi. HTH, C. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] My anti virus software is due for renewal. I'm currently using "CA Internet Security Suite". This used to work fine for me under XP however with Vista the Firewall seems to slow down the traffic considerably (Privacy setting at medium). Does anybody know a fix for this, alternatively, should I go for another Anti-virus software, if so what would you recommend? _______________________________________________ NZ Borland Developers Group Offtopic mailing list Post: [email protected] Admin: http://delphi.org.nz/mailman/listinfo/offtopic Unsubscribe: send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with Subject: unsubscribe
