I am a bit bemused by the changes in the methods and detection rates between
Feb and May - it looks like they are always trying to test the AV programs in
new ways. It looks like May's tests were trying to only test them for
detecting new viruses without any signature updates? So combining both the Feb
and May tests may give a wider measure.

Anyway certain ones featre well in both - Eset, McAFee, Kaspersky, Avira,
Norton. Microsofts good results in the May test surprised me.

This comparison http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is quite interesting. It
shows that Kaspersky seems to be the best. Has any body any experience with
this at all? Also includes Firewall and other useful goodies like theft
protection.

Price-wise not too bad at US$59, same as my CA renewal.

  See details at http://www.kaspersky.com/kaspersky_internet_security

  Hi

My Anti-Virus software is due for renewal. I'm currently using CA, which - I
think - is not too bad. The renewal is US$59.95 for 12 months

Does any body have any alternative recommendations at all?

  Thanks a lot

  John C
