It's inline with what I expected which is why in the original email I cc'd the OGB because unless they have delegated control over this to the advocacy forum, advocacy-discuss has no authority to make any decisions. Point here being that there is no "advocacy community", heck there isn't even an "opensolaris" community for "opensolaris-discuss" to belong to, for there to be any leaders within so we have to fall back to the OGB. There have been lots of ideas and rationales about what is good or bad, and when someone said "shark" (specifically those that eat pengiuns), my thoughts turned to "killer whale", also known as the "orca" - but I digress. What's needed next isn't more +1's or text but graphics. What we need are some people to get together with some ideas for a mascot/logo and create graphics. This requires talent of a different kind than with what is usually associated with open source projects. In the interest of achieving good results here, it may be required to offer some sort of consideration in return for the work performed - that again is outside the bounds of what this mailing list can do and must go back to the OGB. Additionally, to ensure the effort is bounded, we need to set out an end date, such as the 31st of August, 2007 (or even longer.) Of course if you know someone who has the required talent and can churn this out in a week or two, great, but I think that's a bit too unrealistic, same as expecting to find the solution in email. As a proof of concept for a mascot, I'm guessing it would be useful to have the symbol/character/whatever portrayed in two different scenarios/themes. Darren
