Ok, all this discussion of PI sparked a thought:

PI is a subset of OGC.
One marks PI as something one wants to hold onto as a marketing advantage.

Hypothetically:

So, can I PI a description mechanics? If I wanted to clarify certain vague
rules, or make things simpler to do using OGC mechanics (BAB, Saves, etc.),
but I wanted base my company around clarifying or simplifying mechanics, and
so wanted to limit who could use my exact wording, could I?

Here is what got me going weird on it:

Taking that to an extreme, I could declare my whole work OGC, and PI my
original work in the next sentence. That would effectively let me use
other's OGC safely under the OGL, but no one else could use any of mine,
even mechanics, without my permission. Considering the OGL is a contract
license that only covers usage of copyright material, and as someone
mentioned that a contract requires 'Consideration' or giving up of something
of both parties, would that make that usage invalid? I wouldn't really be
giving anything up (one would still need my permission to use any of my
OGC.)

Ok, I'm going to sit back and watch my words ripped to shreds. :)
