If you create a mechanic to handle a particular situation, and lock it out from anyone else using, then other authors will simply create their own mechanic. If it's a good mechanic, and it's OGC, then it will be used elsewhere, and eventually become widespread, and your locked-down mechanic will be incompatible with the other products out there. Take a hint from Betamax. ===== BORGSTROM'S LAW (of Game Design): "If you want to emphasize something, make sure everyone knows that they shouldn't have anything to do with it." __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
