I don't see how.

If I put all actual game stats in a grey box and state that those are Open, 
and that everything else is closed, how is that a problem?  Mentioning that 
"Fred The barbarian" needed to roll against his STR wouldn't really cross the 
line between open and closed...and even if I make up a new rule (The Jam Your 
Finger in the Breach of a Shotgun Table), mentioning the name of that rule 
wouldn't break the Open vs. Closed line. I don't see what the problem would 
be by using the simple model presented by 3DTK...
