Correction. Using the OGL, you are not letting anybody "borrow"
nothing. You are giving anybody who follows the OGL rights to
anything derived from Open Content, as long as they follow the
OGL themselves.

As for stripping bits out, the only thing being removed is flavor text
and explanations, and Product Identity material (such as renaming
the Bigby spells in the SRD (which will happen). Of course, the d20
STL, which allows the use of the logo will, will also allow the use of
some of these bits of PI eventually.

As for the amount of time it is taking, consider that Ryan has to
have the lisences approved by WOTC's lawyers before he can go
too far. Most of what has been released already has been done in
good faith, and it need not to have been done at all yet.

Ummmm..... go back and read your first sentence. This is exactly
what they are doing. Releasing their rules, in a System Resource
Document (SRD), so that others will know exactly what is Open
Content for their rules system.

Also, consider the fact that WOTC is NOT doing this. They are,
however, letting Ryan Dancey do this for them. A minor difference,
maybe, but an important one. For without him, none of this would
even be happening.
