Based on what Ryan is saying, #3 seems doubtful to me. Its fairly clear to a reasonable
person that each article Pyramid Magazine publishes is a separate work -- but 
apparently
WotC would sue them if they attempted to publish OGL or D20 content.

Except the articles are eventually placed in the archive and are accessible as a lump
sum.

I think the message is loud and clear here: Don't attempt to incorporate OGL or D20
material into a general interest magazine, or you'll be sued. That's a major limitation
on the usefulness of the OGL. (The D20 I can sympathize with and understand.)
