Hi,
OK, I've looked over the current SRD, and now I am thinking
about how to use it. It doesn't seem to immediately help with
legally justifying the D20 supplements, since it lacks major
features that the supplements seem to assume. Notably, there is
no mention of feats or classes.
On the other hand, I think it would be nice to have a
playable game which uses and is compatible with the SRD. This
won't use the D20 logo or say it is compatible with D&D, then,
but I think it could still be handy.
However, there are a lot of gaps to fill in. One would have
to write a character creation system, clearly. There are some damage
rules, but they need fleshing out for a real combat system. The
trick will be making it work with the SRD. The SRD mentions that
characters have a "level" and "hit dice", but it never says what
those mean. It is possible to extrapolate a little about what a level
should be by what negative levels are, though. You probably should
have as many hit dice as you have levels, for example (since if your
negative levels are greater than your hit dice you die).
Anyhow, just wanted to toss out the idea and see if anyone
was interested and what their thoughts were.
