Hi,

Having just read the OpenGaming license i read a section to do with not
been able to use the opengaming licence along with something has been
designated under a different licence, due to the fact that it would be
considered as adding new terms etc to the license..

I think thats right isnt it?

Anyhow I'm in the process of creating a mud which uses a driver
written by another author and released under his own license free
for non-commercial usage, commercial usage requires a seperate
licence.

Now if I wanted to use spells, or the combat system used in the
D&D3E (assuming those bits are opengaming, i've still to check that)

How would I stand for releasing my product? Since it would make use of
opengaming content, along with possibly extra opengaming designated
content I have added and maybe some content that I havnt said is
opengaming and kept as product identify. Plus it also would use the
copyrighted but free for use non commercially driver by the other author.

This to me seems a big mess in license terms, since because it uses
OGL for part of the product does that mean I must release it at under
the OGL ?? even if I say the only parts that are OG are the parts from
the other authors that have been designated OG?

Wouldnt there still be the problem that the produce would only be able
to be used non commercially due to the fact the driver required to run
it is only free for non commercial use?

This is a mess to me :(

The other option I have is to not distribute the driver although ppl wouldnt
be able to use it without the driver I could just put a note in saying
requires DGD driver to use.

The I could distribute my mudlib as OGC with sections product identify..

That way the OGC could be used commercially no prob, but they would
still have to get a commercial licence if they wanted to distribute the driver
with it, from the drivers author..

Is this possible? Or have I missunderstood the licence (highly likley :)

Basically I want to know if I make use of someone elses OG content and
make sure I include the licence and appropriate credit can I include that
within a product that has parts made from other licences?? Thus there is
nothing stopping ppl taking out the OGC sections and doing whatever, but
they could not touch the driver except in accordance with the driver license?

I could do this by placing all OGC in one directory and everything else in
another???

HELP :) Clarification is required :-)

Based on the lenght of this I think I've waffled in places, guess I might
end up clarifying what I actually meant later....

bye...
