Clark, you're a nice guy, but this is a total straw man.  I haven't said
the SRD is horrible.  I don't think many people, if anyone, have.  What
people have done is criticize a relatively small aspect of the whole.

Heck, it's also an appeal to authority, which is also weak.  You won't
catch me saying "It must be OK to lie about earnings; the formerly 7th
largest company in the US did it."

Like it or not, this list occupies a dual space.  It's a list to talk
about the idiosyncracies of OGL publishing, but it also is a place to
talk about the OGL.  One of the things you get when you invoke the spirit
of the FSF is a large dose of philosophy.  If you don't like that, hit
delete on the appropriate messages and move on.

However, I think it's totally reasonable to say "I'm glad there's an OGL
and I have certain criticisms of it."  WotC and Ryan didn't do this for
the sake of warm fuzzies.  They did it for business reasons.  It's OK to
mix our thank yous (and I do thank them) with questions and criticisms.
