This is a bit of a "make your best guess" type of thing. We are open to variations but
we do want it to be compatible with the core rules. Variations are fine (new races,
classes, whatever). But the further you go a field the more you are going to need to
blow us away with your idea.

Subject: [Ogf-l] A question for Anthony re:World Design

Posted to the public list, since I think it's of public interest..

a)How 'wild' are you looking for? Obviously, you don't want another
Tolkein rip-off, but how far in the other direction is acceptable? Would
a setting such as "The entire world is a giant living organism and
everyone lives inside of it and the 'dungeons' are really its veins and
arteries and everything is all gooey and organic and stuff" be
immediately tossed out? (I mean, for reasons other than the obvious.)
Krynn and Forgotten Realms were mentioned as guidelines; does this mean
'far out' setting like Planescape, or genre-focused settings like
Ravenloft, are no-go?

b)Should we assume that races, both major and minor, must conform to
'D&D Standard' or can we have chaotic good Mind Flayers who live in oak
trees and talk to the birdies?
