I think the safest way to do something like that (and I'm just giving it away here) would be with footnotes. (Now that I think about it, the Elminster ecologies articles in Dragon of old used this method.) Describe you character fully with no game stats. Where you would want to include them put a footnote in with the game stats in footnote. Now the description is fully PI and the footnotes are not.
