Since early 2001, AustLit has had a "native" FRBR creation/modification environment. Unfortunately, most of AustLit is currently behind a subscription wall, but that may change next year. Descriptions of AustLit's data model: http://www.austlit.edu.au/about/metadata http://alia.org.au/publishing/alj/54.1/full.text/ayres.html http://ausweb.scu.edu.au/aw02/papers/refereed/fitch2/paper.html http://www.austlit.edu.au:7777/DataModel/index.html (the working name for AustLit in 2000 was "ALEG") http://www.austlit.edu.au:7777/design/index.html At the start of the project in mid-2000, we were looking around for models to represent rich relationships between "manifestations" and Judith Pearce, then of the NLA, suggested FRBR. We added an event orientation (inspired by the INDECS and Harmony projects), and 12 years later, we're still very happy with that approach. Maintenance on the database has been performed by well over 100 bibliographers, most of them associated with the many research projects which publish their outputs on AustLit. We're currently making some major changes to the data storage layer (replacing sql database with neo4j) and the editing interface (experimenting with in-place editing and jquery based interface to replacing an ageing ajax implementation from 2000), but we're sticking with the fundamental model.
