Apparently, by driving the car at 80mph on the highway at 4000
rpms. I blew something.

Yeah, pampered old engines do not take well to extended hot hi rev
operation. Something to do with the rings beating into the ridge at the top
of the cylinder, and no oil to the crank.
I hope the overdrive solves that problem.

They said that Olds engines pump too much oil to the
heads, leaving very little for the bottom (crank).

More accurately, the Olds heads have poor drainback, even typically
completely clogged drainback holes on the old used engine, and so ANY oil
that goes up there stays there.
To fix this, they would put oil restricters on the bottom, giving enough oil
to the heads, but
keeping the crank lubed as well.

The proper way to alleviate the problem of excess oil in the heads is to
fix the DRAINBACK problem.
What is the best way to do that?

They said 600 HP would not be a problem.

Really? They must have a Chevy dynamometer then, which uses smaller horses,
therefore more of them.
Maybe they're counting the legs instead of the horses. (four times as many:)) In any event,
if I can run 13's and still do 80mph on the highway (overdrive) what could be sweeter?
BTW, has anyone ever used an overdrive unit on their Olds?
