Hi all,
Because of rebranding, there are a large number of bugs that pertain
to locale issues. Maik has taken them on, and I know a transifex has
been set up.
Are updated translations being copied from Transifex to the packages?
Is there a process for that? Should locale bugs be put in their own
Locale category for convenience?
Hello Robert,
glad you bring up this topic. As far as copying files from Transifex is
concerned, most of the 2011 translation are still in Mandriva's old
transifex instance which is at http://transifex.mandriva.com
Unfortunately I didn't find a way how to get the old files from
Mandriva's Transifex to the new instance. I emailed Mandriva SA about
this and they gave me some information about a Transifex client. There
is an issue about transferring files in OpenProject and to be honest I
can't resolve this problem all by myself and I do need some assistance.
So far what I did was copying the German files by uploading them
manually. This worked for most packages but some gave error messages and
failed during the Upload and I honestly do not know how our developers
are going to pick up the translations.
Some localization bugs (like the Homerun-topic) could be resolved and
this has been done by informing upstream KDE-homerun-project to "pick up
our stuff".
On a final note: If we don't get localization right we will be losing a
lot of our audience and I think the localisation issue is vital if we
truly want to have something like a global distribution.
Have a good day,
Maik
