[Winona Online Democracy]

Bill,

Frankly, many of us do consider the Boy Scout's decision immoral and unjust.
Many churches including Unitarian Universalists, Congregational, some
Methodists and others do not consider homosexuality a sin. Thankfully in
this country we have the Constitution to guide us in what is just and
ethical (all men are created equal, liberty and justice for all, etc...)
Rather than being forced to follow a Bible and religions that depending on
your interpretation can find slavery acceptable, birth control a sin, and
women second class citizens. I would suggest that when it comes to human
rights and equality, the United States repeatedly takes a higher moral
ground than what many (not all) christian religions dictate. But, we still
have a long way to go. Bill, I'm not trying to change your mind, but there
is no way I'm going to give the Boy Scouts credit for trying to instill
"high moral and ethical standards" on this issue. I don't see them doing
anything but succumbing to ignorance, prejudice and gay bashing.
