First, why are you looking for more exposure at this time?
It's always good to get more exposure. People need to know we're
here, and they need to have some of their preconceived notions
corrected. Many people still think we're going to do a $200
FPGA-based 2D-only graphics card or somesuch.
Most of the FOSS community has heard of the project by now.
I'm not so sure about that. Whenever there's any kind of article
about the OGP, there are often numerous comments from peolpe who have
clearly never heard of us. Many who have have no idea what we're all
about.
IIUC there is no product to sell yet.
That IS a real problem.
Are you looking for more engineers to help design?
Yes. More precisely, I'm trying to create a critical mass of open
hardware designers. Putting graphics and profit aside for a moment, I
want to create a community of people who work on all sorts of
interesting open hardware projects. Traversal, with permission, can
build products out of many of those projects, turn over large amounts
of profit from them to the OHF, and then OHF can use that to foster
more community growth.
Are you looking for venture capital?
Maybe. Depends on the intentions of the investor. We're not going to
let in anyone who will ask for any sort of dirty behavior. All
investments from parties wishing to have a controlling interest will
require explicit contracts.
Something else?
Yes. Business partners, for instance. Rather than investing, some
company could fund, for instance, ASIC development. They then have
rights to resell the chip. We buy chips from them and resell them in
our products. Some sort of revenue contract would be drawn up.
