With all due respect, you don't know if the TI DSP is the right kind

Yes, but we do know what we need -- that is to do OpenGL graphics the requirements are fairly standard.. We need floating point that will execute multiple FMAC instructions simultaneously and pipelined. With a DSP, this would be VLIW. We also need smart DMA for video output and a built in MCU would be good since if one isn't built in, we are going to need a septate one. The brand isn't relevant. I have also read good things about Analog's BlackFin.
