If we can do it without too much grief, sure. But it isn't important
to offload the main CPU decoding a single image. It is the 24-60 fps
that requires offloading.
Decoding and resizing a large JPG image does take a while even on a 1
GHz system. If you have hardware scaling and IDCT, it is going to run
much faster.
I don't know if that hardware would speed up JP2, which seems to run
very slowly on my system, or not.
