Sorry. I typo'd the filenames. They're speech3.*

Ok.

You have a good point. But others have argues that for servers, they
often don't even install X11, so what you get is 80x25 text on the
boot console, and you use remote access for everything else. In that
case, buying the cheapest thing you can get your hands on for the boot
console is all you need.

That's true. I personally manage a lot of servers that way and none of
them have X11 installed.
But still, that's not the case for everyone, I see many servers where
the administrator has installed Linux+X11 simply because they feel
more comfortable with a GUI environment, or in some cases simply
because that was the default, so both cases definately exist.
And even if you only run your server in text mode, I'd personally feel
safer knowing that my graphics card in my server is fully documented,
has a 100% open source driver that has an honest chance to work well
since all the docs are available - even if you only run text mode
there's still value in an open card.

If IBM, HP, Sun, Dell (or even some smaller, lesser known
manufacturer) were to come out with a line of servers that had an OGA1
card build-in, I know that I for one would strongly consider that line
of servers. And for systems I build myself, an OGA1 card would be the
#1 choice.

On the other hand, if you have a box that serves double-duty, then an
open graphics card would be ideal.

Yup, got one such right here under my table. Light load, serves
webpages, files and shares the printer, but also doubles as my
workstation.

I couldn't possibly guess when that will happen.

Ok. In any case, I hope it'll be sooner rather than later :-)
