First, here an other version (simply the grey area is centered and take
the width of the screen, its height is unchanged)
http://lucmars.perso.orange.fr/ava/ogp2_1.otp

Second, put the template(s) file(s) in your home directory, see below my
home directory:

/home/luc/.openoffice.org2/user/template/ogp2_1.otp

This is the directory of My Template

Otherwise, you can open the template file, then
File>Template>Save
You get a dialog box from there you save the template in My Template

The others directories available are in the /usr directory which
requires the root privilege. That is where are stored the templates
"Available for use"

Note: as always with the distros, yours can be set completely
differently from mine.

To substitute a template:
do a right-click upon one slide,
select "slide design"
you get a dialog box, click on the "load" button
you get a dialog box with the template's directories, especially My
Template
Since you have previously saved the template(s) in My Template, you just
have to select the file (you can even get a preview)
then, "ok"
On the master panel, you have then your template, a right-click upon it
allow you to apply it on all the slides.

Now, if you really want to have a template as a legit one, that is to
say "Available for use", you have to su and copy the file in
/usr/lib/openoffice2/share/template/en-US/layout or presnt

All that is quite simple, no?
