I am guessing that would be Michael - was that his post in the comments?snip:
the goal of this project isn't to compete with anything, we just want
to get something /working/. After we've gained experience with this
(and helped more people getting their hands on a usable platform) and
support VGA, we're going for driver development and 2D basics. After
that, well, hopefully we can merge with OGP and go for the bigger
stuff.

I guess more developers getting experience in hardware is always a
plus. Looking at the OSNEWS comment about OGP moving slowly does not
realize the amount of work going behind the scenes, much without
recognition. a bit like the wine guys - they have been quiet lately
but working hard toward release 1.0 and it may surprise people how far
they have come. All the ground work builds a good foundation for
later.

off the top of my head:
 - OHF is formed. It is working away supporting Open Hardware.
 - Traversal is working long hours, all behind the scenes. We will
soon see results.
 - we have an initial library of verilog, that has an interesting
potential to change things. Thanks to the list we are nearly finished
finalizing a few things there. OHF has committed to supporting it
 - Open Source developers willing and motivated have started to learn
verilog and writing tests.
 - some have been looking at some options for helping developers with
verilog, but nothing ready to bring to the attention of list yet.
<yes, sorry - cryptic but involved>
 - with a final bom we have started documenting the parts for the card
- some interesting detail there. Terry has done nice graphics and
detective work there. More help would be welcome as we now have links
to some of the older, more open docs. Work is ongoing reducing
dependencies. Write down facts that we need to know, but carefully
respect copyright issues. If this is too hard for you, see below for
an easier task.
http://wiki.opengraphics.org/tiki-index.php?page=OGD1+components+guide
 - we are working toward more documentation - anyone with eyes can
help. find a pdf for one of the 74 series chips and put a link to it
on the respective page. Add a truth table on the page for each chip -
you will learn a bit about hardware and reading the docs and play a
part in open hardware.. Then you may find you are more equipped to
help wth the documentation effort. above

 - we are.. hmm that can wait for later ;-P

What has been done so far is a fair bit - want to help? I guess we
now know some of the topics in the next newsletter at the end of the
month..
;-)
