Here's something I put together to get us started on writing an
announcement. I'm looking for feedback.

OGA1 release 0.5 beta
Open Graphics Project
Open Hardware Foundation

The Open Graphics Project has just reached another major milestone.
OGD1, our FPGA-based graphics card development platform, has been
available for pre-order for some time now. Up until now, OGD1 was
just another high-end FPGA kit, with huge potential, but no default
configuration. Now we are announcing the a formal release of OGA1,
the logic necessary to turn OGD1 into a functioning graphics card.
With this release, OGD1 can now be plugged into a computer and work as
a second-head (non-VGA) display, with the ability to drive two digital
(or one digital and one analog) monitors at up to 2048x1536
resolution. We are calling this a beta release because there are
surely bugs left to find, but all of the major showstoppers have been
eliminated.

If you are interested in OGD1, the Open Graphics Project, the Open
Hardware Foundation, or open hardware in general, check us out at the
links provided below. OGD1 retails for $1200, and discounts are
available via the OHF.

Next on our agenda is VGA. For release 1.0, we are planning on
supporting 80x25 text mode, allowing OGD1 to function as the primary
display in an x86 PC. The hardware infrastructure is in place, so all
that is left is an x86 VGA BIOS and microcode for the microcontroller
that handles the hardware emulation. When that is finished, we will
look into supporting some VGA graphics modes for a 1.5 release.
