Thanks for the edits. I have tried to incorporate your ideas into the announcement, but I think it still needs a little more work before it's finished. I think the paragraphing should be changed a bit. Let me know what you think:
OGA1 release 0.5 beta Open Graphics Project Open Hardware Foundation The Open Graphics Project has taken another critical step towards their goal of delivering a fully open graphics card. After much time, effort, and expense, our reprogrammable FPGA-based development platform, OGD1, became available for pre-order earlier this year. Up until now, OGD1 has mainly been of interest to hardware developers, a 'blank slate' lacking any default function. With this release, OGD1 can now be plugged into a computer and work as a functional (secondary) graphical display, with the ability to drive two digital (or one digital and one analog) monitors at up to 2048x1536 resolution. Support for the VGA 80x25 text mode is planned for release 1.0, which will allow OGD1 to function as a primary console display in an x86 PC. With OGD1 and this 0.5 release of OGA1, the hardware infrastructure is finished, leaving only VGA BIOS and microcode for the microcontroller that handles the hardware emulation. For the 1.5 release, our priority is to add support for important VGA graphics modes. If you are interested in OGD1, the Open Graphics Project, the Open Hardware Foundation, or open hardware in general, check us out at the links provided below. OGD1 retails for $1200, and discounts are available via the OHF.
