Wow. Just wow. This is the last time I'm replying here (I won't be unsubscribing for reasons stated earlier) because Jesus, I DON'T CARE. I'm not going down this path of a whiny bitch fight again. I'm better than this. It's been well over THREE years, get the fuck over it already.
I'm not going to reply to everything you said either, because sod it. I know I won't convince you anyway. > It's an "amazing coincidence" that you decide to pull this stunt > (which directly or indirectly lead to the Phoronix article) right as > we're trying to get the project going again. > I was getting mails, I read along, decided to chip in on the speculation on Phoronix which was referred to in one of them. Oh no, I made things clearer! Woe is me. > Why do you feel that it's improper for a company to contribute > anonymously to a FOSS project? Nice spin. Say Microsoft would contribute anonymously to linux, then sell linux before linux itself works. Because that's what happened. (Don't start with "Yes but the firmware!" that's like saying linux is useless without a GUI) Why do you repay their kindness with accusations of wrong-doing? > Yes I'm the boogeyman. I made their CEO cry, no doubt. OMG! Some of us contributors PAID MONEY > And projectVGA was entirely free. So was the booth at LinuxTag, travel to it and Fosdem, my time & energy both there and at home, and so on. Or is this a "I spend more than you did" argument? In which case you've really gone low. You are very arrogant. You are not, by any means, the first person to > figure out the connection with Tech Source. And I'm saying I wouldn't have been the last either, and sooner or later it would've become general knowledge. > Why do you feel that anyone had the right to this information? Why do > you feel that YOU PERSONALLY had any right to this information? > Because I was invested! > But for some reason an article appears on Phoronix with more of your > disinformation. Given the timing, it looks like you have some agenda > to damage the project just as we're trying to get it going again. Why > do you want to cause trouble for us? You can't be serious. Who's arrogant here? Do you really think I'm running a bloody AGENDA against you and OGP? Yes yes I've been sitting here playing Dr. Evil, plotting, stroking my cat and holding my pinky against the corner of my mouth until the time was right, mwuahaha! No. You're not that important. Maybe for your loved ones, but certainly not to me. The truth is, the first email of this list in a long time in my inbox was a test, the next contained this; > [ trying again now that mail list is back up ] Michael Larabel is saying that OGP is dead. (and Project VGA as well) Hey that's me (not Larabel, I mean projectvga). Let's read it! And then I decided to tell my side of the story to give some closure. And one of the reasons I stopped with OGP was because our ego's kept colliding, but I didn't want to single you out. So I kept the gist generic. I even added a PPS to hope you'd get what I was trying to accomplish, to NOT let it derail into a new shitfest. Little did I know Phoronix would dump the entire email in an article. If I had *that* kind of power over websites, it would be time to start manipulating the stock market and make millions. Relax. It's NOT the end of the world. It's just the truth, a lesson to be learned, and hopefully we've all learned it. Be HONEST, or some people (me, for one) feel you've betrayed their trust. If you think that's me being nutty, fine. See if I care at this point. What is amazes me is that, given how little you personally contributed > to the OGP (in comparison to so many other major contributors who have > always been happy with our arrangements), you feel you have some right > to judge how we went about our business. > So it really was a "I spend more" argument? Congratulations in that case. Sorry I wasn't the biggest contributor, maybe then I would've had a real reason to get pissed... So, to conclude, I would like to respectfully request that you stop > making unfounded accusations and publicly correct your factual errors. > We don't deserve to have our reputation sullied. Thanks for supporting project VGA, and thanks for encouraging me to continue with cognitive science. Let me return the favor by noting I'm insanely jealous of your assistant prof position. That's still quite a few years ahead of me, if at all. Hope you'll get tenure soon :) I'm reminded of this; http://www.phdcomics.com/comics.php?f=1077 But you can forget about any 'corrections', what's done is done. All I'll say is this once more; all the best to OGP and any future endeavors. And if you still think I'm trying to fuck up your efforts it might be time to see a therapist. Michael
