Now, this could just be confirmation bias on my part, but the response makes a pretty good argument there is real *market demand* for hardware which has full functionality with unencumbered free(libre) software, and such open systems make more money for people that actually sell systems to people (Best Buy are you listening? Here's how you compete with Amazon) This implies to me that *when* we finally fab a chip that comes from open VHDL/Verilog/GDSII/OASIS files, it will ship millions of units when fabbed on the latest process available.
