Thanks again. I am trying to connect to SQL Server and Oracle databases, but for now I need SQL Server connections. I did want to use JDBC but even that was not working. I downloaded the files (to try) because the connections were not being made.
We'd need more information to try and help with what's going on here. What version of SQL Server? Which driver are you using? What error message do you get? Are you sure the database server is accessible over JDBC? Are you sure you have the port number correct? Are you sure the SQL Server in question is set to the right type of authentication?
I am using the OpenBD console. What do I select to create the connection? "Microsoft SQL Server (jTDS)"? "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Microsoft)"? "Other JDBC Driver"?
If it's SQL 2005 you can use either SQL Server driver. If it's SQL 2000 you MUST use the jTDS driver. You do not have to use the "other" driver.
