I had this problem some time ago, and couldn't find help here. :( I finally
"solved" it by re-installing OpenSSL (www.openssl.org) from source, in the
default location. Then, by installing OpenCA again, all was well.

Apparently OpenCA doesn't like OpenSSL installed from RPMs, because then it
isn't in a "single" location, /usr/local/ssl , but it's instead spread out
through /usr/bin , /usr/lib, etc..
