Michael Fair : In my searching for this list I was looking for
references to OpenCard and OpenTalk. I eventually discovered that
OpenTalk is a registered trademark of someone else.

Alain : We aware of the fact that OpenCard is a registered name. I have
taken to calling it OODL instead.

Michael Fair : Would the members here consider changing the name of the
project to "GnuCard" which uses the "GnuTalk" language?

Alain : Several alternative names have been suggested in the past. Your
suggestion will be considered along with the others when the
appropriate time comes.

Michael Fair : I have other reasons for suggesting this as well, most
of them purely my personal preference and have absolutely no basis in
anything other than my own mind share. I also just like the way it
sounds when I say it better than OpenCard.

Alain : If the group shares your opinion, and gnucard is not already
trademarked, then it will be adopted.

Michael Fair : I don't have any expectations that people change the
name of the project just because some newbie said it sounds better, but
what do you guys think?

Alain : The name we have now will DEFINITELY be changed. What its
replacement will be is an open question. We are temporarily using
OpenCard because the name-debate is not our highest priority at this
time.

Michael Fair : I am sure there are a host of other reasons for and
against. GnuCard with GnuTalk or OpenCard with x?Talk

Alain : I like a good debate !

Michael Fair : I have a tendancy to take projects with Gnu in their
title a bit more seriously, especially when it is just in the formative
stages.

Alain : I am taking all of this quite seriously myself. We are not
toying around to kill time. We want our Flight of the Pheonix.
Grassroots empowerment, open source sharing, MacLuhan's Global Village
in action, using technologies to augment our potential and sphere of
influence, ... There's a LOT going on here!

Michael Fair : A practice I try and avoid but catch myself doing still.
I don't know if anyone else does that.

Alain : I think I got it too !
