Edward Ditor: The OpenCard experience
(...) it is a nice program, fast and very thought out, but it is
unacceptable that for the simplest button shapes like ovals or roundrects I
have to create a region button and assign it the shape. Even the program
called HyperCard from which they claim inheritance had this feature! (...)
-- end of imagined snip --
And something more: The routines for handling rounded rects and ovals in
MacOS and Windows are optimized for speed. We'll get a penalty with
arbitrarily shaped buttons since they have to be very generic. Thus, I'd
suggest in the interest of future speed benchmarks we support oval and
roundrect. End of speech.
