I agree that whatever name is chosen should 'link' to HC,
but if it could also link to www so much the better
(since, i think the HC interface basically inspired the www
graphic interface).
Thank you for setting me straight on MCs (non) involvement in this project. I
shall download their engine this week.
Oh, regarding PDCard - too problems: 1) PD in US english means
police department. Not my idea of a positive association.
2) pd in french (pronounced PD) is a term for homosexual
(from pederast). So... i really would like to avoid the term
(behavioral and social psychologists can puzzle over the links
between us cops and french homosexuals...)
RE apple source code: oh well... one can hope.
also, Rinaldi does most of his programming in pascal.
insane if those crackheads (how else can you explain the
failure of apple in the mid 1990s) at apple did coding for
HC in 68k assembly...
Regarding the name basicCard, i suggest the name coz HC is a very
high level language. Plus basic is the first language of many
programmers. I think a book/stack "from basic to hypertalk"
could be written. Any way ill ates thinx basic is just fine.
I agree, VolksCard implies affordable, mass vehicle... It
also implies a lot of rather dark history (understatement).
Open Source Code: ok, i just wanted to be sure that i understand:
actual source code (uncompiled pascal, c, c++ etc.) will
be available to end users.
** If you mean running HyperTalk scripts using a Java application, forget it.
*It's going to be *very* slow. If it's some kind of Java Plug-In, this is
*something that could come out of OpenCard anyway since the interpreter *can
*stand alone So, if someone's interested, they can create this, but I *don't
*see what the relevance is to us in this current state of affairs.
No, I mean running java applets within HC, i.e. available
scripting languages thus being HyperTalk, AppleScript, and Java
(which makes me wonder if it would be possible to import Lingo
or, um, basic).
>others. Triple damages for misappropriation, and the infringer pays
>the attorneys fees and costs if the infringer acted in bad faith.
* and what if the infringer acted unknowingly?
Well, i mean if you can actually prove you were ignorant of
the existence of the other mark (and the presumption is against
this) and you can convince the judge 'but other people should
pay for my ignorance!' then, sure, maybe the judge would feel
merciful and reduce the damages due to mitigating circumstances.
But the quick answer is: Yup, triple damages - its draconian. So really do
Thats why its called "law". So, we really do want to stay away from
other names - especially registered (though whether all the
names described are in use is an interesting question). But
why make headaches? Plenty of unappropriated names... so we
find one...
Thank you for the TM searches!
