I have the same cursor problem with Ubuntu 9.10, but I also have the max
resolution 800x600 and missing icons in programs (e.g. Open Office). I'm
using Asus M2V-MX motherboard (K8M890CE).
My Xorg.log in launchpad:

Using default, very basic, xorg.conf.
