I have the same problem, tested on ubuntu 9.04 9.10 10.04 xubuntu puredyne
and fedora.
A strange thing happened,(Ubuntu Lucid Lynx) I plugged in an nvidia card
(just plug on the pci-e) but still use the onboard vga. the resolution is
800x600 but the problems are gone.
If I unplug the nvidia the problem comes back.
